North Collier Fire formed an extrication team several years ago. Thanks to COVID 😕 the team took some time off but in October of 2023, the current team came together to compete in the North American Vehicle Rescue Association in Miami. Out of 16 teams, they came in 11th 👏👏👏 strong work for a team's first competition.
This video shows how hard they are training and preparing for the TERC USA Invitational Vehicle Extrication Challenge & Learning Symposium being held next week in Lake Worth. Their goal is to compete across the country and earn an invitation to the World 🌎 Competition.
While the team is competitive Its ultimate objective is to increase a crash victim's chance of survival by decreasing the amount of time in extricating the patient from the vehicle, thus preserving more time and time in these emergencies can be the difference between life and death.
The techniques they practice, help you. The techniques they learn from networking with other agencies at these competitions helps you. The opportunity to practice real-life scenarios in this competition helps you.
We are firefighters. We are competitive. We want to be the best at whatever we do because we understand the stakes involved, the safety of you and your family. We never lose sight of this. Never.

We hope you enjoy this insight. We are grateful for the team members who exemplify Honor. Service. Pride.
Incident Command Lt. Dustin Gourley, Technical members Lt. Chandler Craft, FF Mike Matarazzo, Engineer James Farley, FF Marty Mason, Medical Team Engineer Colton Rose and alternate team members. Engineer James Langlois, FF Aaron Reilly

We would like to thank our current team sponsors Turtle Plastics. If you would like to sponsor the team to help offset the cost of gear, tournaments, and travel expenses please contact Lt Dustin Gourley at dgourley@northcollierfire.com

Yesterday’s house fire in Golden Gate City was determined to be caused by a lithium-ion battery on an e-bike. Those batteries can be very dangerous if you do not follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Safety Tips:
-Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for charging and storage.
-Always use the manufacturer's cord and power adapter made specifically for the bike.
-Always plug directly into wall outlet for charging.
-Always keep batteries and devices at room temperature.
-Do not leave an electric bike unattended while it's charging, and don't leave it charging overnight.
-Always store and/or charge batteries away from anything flammable.
-Always keep away from heat sources.

Lithium-ion battery fires can spread quickly out of control, and within minutes have started a large fire. Please stay safe out there!
